Spaces Furniture Layout

  1. Programmatically, should your floor plan be consistent with your overall concept? (i.e.: the waiting lobby would probably be a more public/open space, in which case should it be surrounded by 'private'?)

    You could ask yourself this question on different scales, such as how does private encircle public in each particular room type? Is there some way to address this relationship within the patient rooms, etc?

    You can take this approach in plan, section, elevation, even at the level of detail. It sounds crazy but how could, for example, the threshold between a patient's room and an outer public area be designed to uphold your concept? This could at the very least be a question you continue to ask yourself.
